gExploreFTP is an app for Windows 7, Vista, and XP SP3 that lets you access your
Google Docs or Google Drive files through any FTP client software, such as
FileZilla or SmartFTP. Just install and run gExploreFTP on your computer (or a
network computer) and connect to it using your Google Docs or Google Drive
login. It's that easy.
With gExploreFTP you can upload and download files in your Google Docs or Google Drive account through your FTP client. Now you can use Google Docs for backup applications, easy uploading and downloading, scripting, and more. You can use gExploreFTP with an unlimited number of Google accounts as licensing is per computer and not per user.
All communication between gExploreFTP and Google Drive is performed over SSL. Because FTP is an unsecure protocol it is strongly recommended that gExploreFTP only be used locally or on a trusted network.
Google Docs and Google Drive are great for file storage but they do not behave like a traditional file system. For example, files in the same folder can have the same name and files and folders can belong to multiple folders. gExploreFTP ignores these differences in order to fit Google Docs and Google Drive to the FTP protocol. If there are files with the same name in a folder you will not be able to download both files through gExploreFTP because the FTP protocol can only identify one of the files (the first one it sees).
Windows XP SP3 or newer.
