ArtistScope DRM provides total control management of a user's rights to access a document, empowering authors with the right to control which users have access to their documents, and for how long. When DRM rights are assigned to a document it can then be opened only by those persons who have the author's permission. Other persons will not be able to open those documents, which is the best defense from onward forwarding and unauthorized distribution.
With ArtistScope DRM you can send a document to a client and maintain complete control while it's out in the wild - at any time you can stop the document from being viewed, and control whether it can be printed or how many times. You can even control how long it's available for and who can open the document.
ArtistScope DRM is most useful for protecting confidential information, making sure that mission critical secrets are kept within your group, and for the protection of one's livelihood as in the case of authors distributing eBooks and teachers distributing tutorials. ArtistScope DRM lets you publish a document, and then control who can view the document AND where they can view it. Even if the document gets posted to a public web site, it cannot be opened by anyone unless you have first given approval to them specifically, and you can always change your mind later and revoke those permissions by remotely disabling the document.
ArtistScope DRM and Total Control Management
ArtistScope DRM is a web based solution that manages a user's rights and privileges. Each user is identified by a unique computer signature and it's impossible for there to be duplicates. When a document is accessed the reader checks the DRM Portal for the user's privileges, and if that user does have permission, then the document/file is opened accordingly. If a user does not have the author's permission, then they will never be able to open it, and any copies forwarded on will also be protected. For example an author can:
- Restrict which users or groups can open which documents
- Set expiry dates validated by either local computer time or by time server
- Allow or limit the number of views by a user or group
- Allow or limit the number of prints by a user or group
- Allow or limit access by IP number or network
ArtistScope DRM for eBooks and PDF Documents
ArtistScope DRM technology can be applied to any viewer strategy that can process requests and responses to the DRM Portal, which means that a proprietary viewer is required. For eBooks and PDF documents the CopySafe PDF Reader is ideal because as well as being DRM enabled, it also provides the most secure copy protection for the document's contents while it is open.
ArtistScope DRM software is available for outright purchase and installation on your own web site. A server side version of the CopySafe PDF Protector will automatically convert PDF documents as they are uploaded and from the control panel an author has full control over all user and document properties. Further information on server requirements, installation and pricing can be found from the links in the top right hand column.
Hosted DRM Service
The validation service provided by ArtistScope DRM for PDF is also available as a free service to licensed users of CopySafe PDF Protector. For low volume and short term use the DRM validation service can be rented as a Hosted DRM Service.
ArtistScope DRM for other file types
The ArtistScope DRM Portal can be integrated with any custom reader and our development team can customize to suit any requirements. However for content displayed by web browsers, while it is possible to use browser plugins, the solution will never be ideal due to the nature of those web browsers... they are all designed to win a popularity contest so proper copy protection has been made impossible. So for secure web projects we strongly recommend using the ASPS Web Reader which not only provides the most secure copy protected environment, but it's already designed fro DRM control.
CopySafe PDF Protector is available as a Windows GUI (executable) and also as a COM object which has been specially optimized for command-line operation. The COM object can be used via a DOS prompt or run from a .bat file. However to increase the scope of its use there are now additional add-ons to enable you to use the Protector online, running server side and controllable from your web pages.
