Hotspot Shield is a program for encrypting your Internet connections. Basically, this means that anyone can browse the internet in a secure and uncensored way, no matter of its location. The solution is most suited for locations that might still impose some restrictions over the Internet websites, so the users in those countries will gain anonymous access to the restricted webpages.
The program installations creates an HTML shortcut on the desktop. When this shortcut is accessed, the local browser is accessed, and the user IP is changed, by assigning another IP, to obtain an anonymous connection. Also, the application is loaded in the taskbar, noticeable as a green icon, which you can use to disconnect from the program.
The application opens an advertising banner, on the top of each webpage, which might be annoying, but it does not affect the functionality. It can be closed, but it reopens when another webpage is accessed.
